I am sure we will get to know each other better as time goes on, but a short introduction is still in order. I am Mindaugas, and for over 20 years I have been seeking answers to various questions about my surroundings, the planet Earth, and space. Eventually, I understood that I was interested in the inner workings of the Universe itself. This led me to a path of science - physics to be exact.
For 10 years on and off, I was a part of the scientific community at CERN - the European Centre for Nuclear Research. The story of how I ended up working with CERN is not a straightforward one. Since I am from Lithuania, opportunities to go into Particle Physics - the field of science that I loved since I was 15 were very limited. I went abroad to study, and had to support myself so ended up working as a manager, came back to Lithuania, and went abroad again. I have many stories to tell about my ventures…
But now, looks like I made a full circle and I am starting as an LHCb Research Group Leader in Vilnius, my hometown.
I decided to share my experience here with you all. Also, I just love science communication and the plan is to have interesting discussions with colleagues from different fields of science, live and recorded content about curiosities of particle physics and cosmology. Also, this should work as a medium for young starting scientists to gain inspiration, learn from my experiences and mistakes, or better, create a community where we can all learn together.
I hope you find the content here interesting! Let’s see where we end up.
Mindaugas
