I'm beginning my second week at a new job, and I'm already on a business trip. Members of LHCb groups in the UK are meeting at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory. Since I am maintaining my LHCb affiliation through the University of Manchester (huge thanks to them!) I am also invited to meet my old and new colleagues from the UK.
This also illustrates nicely how much travel is involved when one does Experimental Particle Physics. It’s not uncommon to have 20-40 flights per year. And quite rarely there is a month without any travel. I thoroughly enjoy traveling and when able have my family with me, but towards the end of the year, it can get quite exhausting indeed.
I’m sure it will be a fruitful and interesting week.
Have a nice week everyone!
